Kearney Nebraska Newborn Photography | Mentoring with Melissa J

I {heart} newborns and all their beautiful little features. I love their squishy little every-things, their tiny nose, pouty lips… and more than anything, I LOVE TO PHOTOGRAPH them so their parents can cherish their memories forever. It really should come as no surprise that I’ve been perfecting my style and trying to learn everything I can about photographing babies over the past year. I’ve come to find what I feel fits me as a photographer and what style I love. You can never ever learn too much and I’ve changed an incredible amount in the past year, even more since my journey started. I’ve also been needing to use studio lighting more and the opportunity to learn from Melissa was a blessing.

Way back in March, {eeeek I’m so so very behind blogging} – I had the opportunity to learn from someone I’ve admired for a very long time. Not only was she willing to share her secrets about locations in her hometown way before I became a mentoree, she was just as awesome to learn from. Melissa J in Colorado Springs was an amazing person and I was able to learn so much about studio lighting (since previously I shot almost 100% natural light) as well as some of her secrets. While we didn’t have the most cooperative little models (in fact one was only 2 days old, and the other was 3 weeks), it was was awesome to see how Melissa is still able to work her magic with them.
